ATB Financial in Calgary is seeking a Summer 2027 Student Analyst for our FICC team. You will gain exposure to debt capital markets, rates, FX, and other fixed income activities while working onsite.

You will support research, financial modeling, and client-facing preparations, collaborating with Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, and Risk. The role requires a current Bachelor’s in Business/Commerce or finance, with a strong analytical mindset and a drive to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Business / Commerce or a finance/accounting postgraduate program.
  • Must be willing to work onsite 5 days per week at the Calgary office.
  • Prior financial services experience is preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Growth mindset with ability to ask questions and solve problems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze client industries and financial data.
  • Analyze securities, derivative products and market data.
  • Collaborate with internal partners across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit, and Risk.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and marketing materials.
  • Build and review financial models.
  • Support transaction execution with clients.

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is an Alberta-based institution with offices in Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton and Denver. Together, we represent a highly specialized team of experts who provide a full suite of financial services solutions including:

ATB Cormark Capital Markets & Advisory Services:

  • Debt Capital Markets, Rates, Foreign Exchange (FX), Commodities & Fixed Income Sales & Trading.
  • Corporate Banking, Loan Syndications, Project Finance & Trade Finance.
  • M&A Advisory, Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) and Private Equity.
  • Equity Capital Markets, Institutional Equity Sales & Trading, and Institutional Research.

ATB's Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) group includes Debt Capital Markets & Leveraged Finance, Rates, FX, Commodities and Fixed Income Sales & Trading. Individuals will gain experience in global markets across a broad range of cash and derivative products including public and private credit, interest rates, FX, carbon credits and commodities. ATB Cormark Capital Markets is looking for a Summer 2027 Student Analyst (FICC) to join the team.

This role will be working 100% onsite out of our Capital Markets office located in Calgary, AB.

Accountabilities

As ATB Cormark Capital Market’s next Student Analyst (FICC) you'll be assigned a wide variety of projects and given responsibility based on experience and capabilities. Some of which may include:

  • Researching and analyzing core industries and client’s financial and operation data.
  • Analyzing securities, derivative products and market data.
  • Communicating and collaborating with internal partners such as Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit, Market Risk and Operations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of presentations, marketing materials and development of new business ideas.
  • Building and reviewing financial models.
  • Supporting transaction execution with clients.
Skills, experience & requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Business / Commerce OR postgraduate program with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting.
  • Must be willing to work onsite 5 days per week out of the Capital Market office located in Calgary, AB.
  • Past experience in Financial Services is preferred (investment banking, corporate finance, consulting or other relevant experience).
  • Strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills.
  • Have a strong sense of personal accountability. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and takes personal accountability to ensure that deliverables are accurate and of high quality.
  • Come with an inquisitive and growth mindset. Be confident to ask questions, seek information, dissect problems, and suggest innovative solutions.
