Job summary

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is seeking a Summer 2027 Student Analyst for our Mining group in Toronto. You will contribute to execution, client service and idea generation across advisory and equity capital markets.

Based in Toronto, this 100% onsite paid role offers exposure to top-tier mining transactions and collaboration with a specialized team. Applicants should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance or related fields and demonstrate strong quantitative skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of business, economics and finance demonstrated by academics and experience.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take on new responsibilities and use sound judgement.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with technical proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint/Word and market data tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop presentation materials to support client decision-making.
  • Support deal teams in advisory and financing mandates with growing responsibility.
  • Evaluate financial strength of corporate clients and perform valuation analyses.
  • Conduct in-depth industry and company research to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Maintain and develop databases and spreadsheets.

About the role

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is seeking a highly motivated Summer 2027 Student Analyst to join our Mining group in Toronto. Our Mining Investment Banking team combines leading advisory & technical capabilities with deep sector knowledge to serve mining companies across the entire mining lifecycle. In this role, you will play a critical part in execution, client service and idea generation across various projects in advisory and equity capital markets.

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is a wholly owned subsidiary of ATB Financial, an Alberta-based institution with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Denver. Together, we represent a highly specialized team of experts who provide a full suite of financial service solutions including:

  • Advise on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and private equity transactions
  • Equity capital, debt capital and financial markets
  • Corporate banking, loan syndications and project finance
  • Institutional sales and trading
  • Institutional research to leverage industry and sector insight

ATB Cormark’s Mining Team is a top-ranked advisor and underwriter in the metals and mining sector. Over the past 5 years, the Metals and Mining Investment Banking Team has advised on mergers & acquisitions with an aggregate value of $19+ billion and participated in transactions raising $13+ billion for mining companies.

Accountabilities

Primary duties consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Developing presentation materials to support our clients’ decision-making
  • Supporting deal teams in the execution of advisory and financing mandates with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
  • Evaluating and analyzing the financial strength of corporate clients, including performing valuation analysis
  • Conducting in-depth industry and company-specific related research to identify key market trends, risks, and actionable opportunities.
  • Maintaining and developing databases and spreadsheets
Skills, experience & requirements
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field
  • An excellent understanding of business, economics and finance as demonstrated through academic achievement, work experience and personal interest
  • A proven ability to learn complex concepts quickly, take on new responsibilities and demonstrate sound judgement
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail and technical skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • A track‑record of academic excellence

This role will be working 100% onsite out of our Capital Markets office located in Toronto, ON. This is a paid position with compensation ranging between $38/hr-$42/hr based on experience.
