Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our pumping systems team in Canada. You will participate in engineering, technology selection and execution of mechanical and multidisciplinary projects in mining, energy and heavy industry.

From front-end studies to detailed engineering and construction, you will design pumping stations, dewatering systems, tailings pumping facilities, and coordinate civil, structural, electrical and automation disciplines.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• Up to three years of experience.
• Fluent in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Participate in engineering projects from front-end studies to detailed engineering.
• Design pumping stations and dewatering facilities.
• Coordinate civil, structural, electrical and automation disciplines.
• Prepare technical reports and assist with proposals.

Your future role on our teamYou’ll join our mechanical engineering team specialized in pumping systems. In this role, you’ll participate in engineering, technology selection and the execution of mechanical and multidisciplinary projects in the mining, energy and heavy industry sectors. Over time, you’ll also play a key role in coordinating related disciplines, such as civil, structural, electrical and automation engineering.

In this role, you’ll participate in engineering, technology selection and the execution of mechanical and multidisciplinary projects in the mining, energy and heavy industry sectors. Specifically, you’ll contribute to all phases of engineering projects, from front-end studies to detailed engineering and construction. Your projects will include designing and implementing pumping stations, dewatering systems and tailings pumping facilities.

• Perform complex hydraulic calculations using simulation software
• Design pumping systems
• Make technical choices in establishing designs, provide recommendations, and make decisions on highly technical and complex issues
• Prepare engineering documents

Summary Of Job Requirements

• University degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
• Up to three years of experience
• Interest in fluid mechanics, pumping, piping and energy
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
• Asset: experience in the mining, energy or heavy industry sector
• Asset: knowledge of digital simulation software (AFT Fathom or others)
