Job summary

Halifax Public Libraries is seeking a Campus Library Technician to support the Library and Learning Commons on campus. You will respond to research questions, help users access resources, and process loan materials using Alma.

You will also assist with AFTs, technology support for Brightspace and Office 365, and contribute to collection maintenance and campus events. A culture of equity and collaboration is valued.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Library and Information Technology is required.
• Minimum of one year of related experience in a library environment; academic library experience is an asset.
• Experience serving diverse user groups and knowledge of academic integrity, citation and referencing.
• Strong experience with library service platforms (Alma is an asset) and discovery services (Primo VE is an asset).
• Experience with Office 365 and Learning Management Systems (Brightspace); Pressbooks is an asset.
• Comfort with a digital environment and a commitment to using technology to advance work.
• Experience with assistive technology (AFTs, text-to-speech, accessibility features) is an asset.
• Demonstrated equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism commitment.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and online library support to students, faculty, staff and community members by responding to research/reference questions.
• Assist users in accessing and using library resources and refer to other College supports as needed.
• Process library materials and equipment for loan, including interlibrary loan and reserve services using Alma.
• Support Accessible Format Texts (AFTs) and supply materials to students.
• Support collection maintenance with accurate circulation data and processing of new materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues on college-wide and consortia initiatives and participate in groups and projects.
• Support campus events and activities such as orientations and convocation.
• Assist learners in troubleshooting technology issues related to Office 365, LMS, equipment, printers and scanners.
