Job summary

Western University seeks a Fire Safety Technician for a 22-month, temporary, full-time contract on-site at our London, Ontario campus. The role focuses on promoting a safe environment and supporting fire prevention through testing, inspections, and compliance with OFC, OBC, ULC, and NFPA standards.

The ideal candidate holds a 3-year college diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology and at least two years of experience with fire alarm systems.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience testing, inspecting and repairing fire alarm systems.
• Experience with OFC, OBC, ULC standards and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Support fire safety on campus and promote safe environments for students and staff.
• Execute testing and inspections to mitigate fire hazards in accordance with OFC, OBC and codes.
• Coordinate daily, monthly and annual work schedules for fire safety tasks.
• Prepare fire safety education and training as needed.
• Communicate effectively with department personnel and the public.
