Job summary

Fabbrica Unique in Vaughan, Ontario, is seeking an experienced cabinetmaker to join our on-site workshop. You will work on kitchen cabinets, furniture and vanity projects, reading plans, and shaping wood with hand tools and machines.

The role requires at least 5 years of related experience, a secondary school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to supervise workers and apprentices in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of carpentry/furniture experience.
• Knowledge of cabinet construction and woodworking processes.
• Ability to work on-site at the physical location; no remote work.

Responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machines and hand tools to cut, shape and finish parts.
• Prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets to maximize storage.
• Instruct apprentices and supervise other workers.
• Study plans and drawings to guide fabrication.
• Operate CAD and other computer software systems.
• Assemble subassemblies, fit parts, and reinforce joints.
• Sand surfaces, apply veneer and finishes, and polish finished products.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Estimate costs and materials and assist in project planning.
• Repair or restyle wooden furniture and fixtures.

• Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
• Instruct apprentices
• Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints
• Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
• Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
