Job summary

Executive Millwork Inc. in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking an experienced Cabinetmaker to join our on-site millwork and custom cabinet shop. You will operate woodworking machines, interpret plans, and shape wood components to deliver high-quality built-in units and furniture.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, a Registered Apprenticeship or equivalent, and the ability to supervise apprentices while maintaining safety and efficiency in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent cabinetmaking experience required.
  • Experience operating woodworking machines in a shop environment.
  • Ability to supervise apprentices and assist in training.

Responsibilities

  • Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components.
  • Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage.
  • Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
  • Instruct apprentices.
  • Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made.
  • Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints.
  • Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Supervise other workers.
  • Estimate costs and materials.
