ABB in Montreal, QC is seeking a Purchasing professional to manage materials procurement in line with technical specs, price, and delivery terms. The role supports the Power Reliability division and operates in a hybrid work model in Montreal, Quebec.

You will develop procurement plans, identify suppliers, and ensure alignment with production schedules and capacity. Fluency in English and French is required, with strong Excel, Power BI, SharePoint skills, and ERP experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement and supply chain operations (3–5 years) in manufacturing.
  • Proficient with SAP ERP and SAP Ariba procurement platforms.
  • Advanced Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables; Power BI and SharePoint.
  • Bilingual in English and French; French required; English for external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate purchase orders in the system per requisitions and confirm with suppliers.
  • Expedite open orders, delayed, emergency, and long lead-time orders.
  • Notify stakeholders of changes to delivery dates.
  • Prepare procurement plans and schedules; coordinate with operations.
  • Lead communication networks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply SCM standards and processes in the area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate with production to ensure material availability and align with schedules.

This Position reports to:

Purchasing Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. Each day, you will ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying new suppliers in cooperation with the relevant category team.

This role is contributing to the Power Reliability division in Montreal, Qc.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Initiating Purchase Orders in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirming delivery with suppliers, monitoring, and tracking supplier performance to PO requirements.
  • Expedite open orders, delayed, emergency, and long lead-time orders.
  • Notify internal stakeholders of any delivery date changes.
  • Prepare and implement procurement plans and schedules, and, as required, lead and coordinate efforts with the operations team.
  • Lead efforts to build appropriate communication networks with internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply and implements SCM standards, tools and processes in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain close coordination with the production team to ensure material availability, proactively address potential shortages, and align procurement activities with production schedules and capacity requirements.

Qualifications For The Role
  • You are highly skilled in working with ERP systems (SAP) and Procurement Platforms (SAP Ariba)
  • Ability to demonstrate your experience in Manufacturing of Electrical and Mechanical assemblies ( 3-5 years in procurement and supply chain operations)
  • You are passionate about Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros), SharePoint, Teams for collaboration, Power BI and process optimization.
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management with proven experience applying procurement best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • You are at ease communicating in English and French. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
