Job summary

ABB, operating in Canada, seeks an experienced engineer to support sales by adapting ABB products to customer specifications. You will select optimized products, prepare proposals, and serve as a key technical resource for the area and proposal team in a hybrid role.

Strong French skills and English for internal collaboration are required. Role includes coordinating demonstrations, building schedules with engineering, and leading design proposals while interfacing with partners and customers

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree preferred, and Professional Engineers association membership preferred.
• 5–10 years of commercial/industrial market experience with protection and control on MV & LV equipment.
• Good working knowledge of LV & MV electrical distribution and control products.
• Understanding of customer problems, needs and challenges and industry knowledge preferred.
• Insights on competitive landscape, competitor offerings, and GTM models.
• Strong listening, analytical and technical skills; negotiation abilities.
• Fluent French is mandatory; English required for internal/external communication outside Quebec.

• Provide leadership and accountability for delivery of design products within budget.

This Position reports to: Proposal manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the Sales organization and customers throughout the sales process by adapting ABB’s products with customer applications to meet their requirements/specifications. Each day, you will select optimized products and technology for adaptation, prepare relevant documentation, proposals and serve as a key technical resource for the assigned area & proposal team. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying and cultivating new business opportunities by proactively prospecting, networking.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the ELSE Application Sales Department

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing solutions, product packages, and software applications with your team.
• Understanding customer needs and requirements and effectively communicating the ability of ABB’s solutions to address those needs.
• Coordinating the product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the value and benefits of ABB’s solutions.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other internal engineering teams, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders
• Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies, as required on technical issues
• Work with Advanced Application and functional engineering teams to build estimates and schedules.
• Supporting in preparing sales proposals and negotiating contracts to secure new businesses.
• Providing leadership and be accountable for delivery of design products solutions within budget

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree preferred, and active member of a Professional Engineers association preferred.
• 5 to 10 Years of commercial and industrial market segment experience with protection and control on MV & LV equipment and switchgear, industry standards ANSI/IEC/CSA
• Good working knowledge of LV & MV electrical distribution, and control products.
• Good understanding of the customer's problems, needs and challenges as well as industry-specific knowledge preferred.
• Good insights on competitive landscape, competitor's offering, and competitor's go-to-market model.
• Good capacity to listen with analytical and technical skills.
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills with great negotiation and influencing skills.
• Autonomous, entrepreneurial & team spirit
• Proficiency in French is mandatory, as well as English in order to communicate effectively with internal clients and partners located outside of Quebec.
