Job summary

ABB Canada’s Electrification, Installation Products (ELIP) division is seeking a Production Planner based in Montreal, QC. You will translate customer orders and forecasts into a practical production schedule while optimizing equipment and workforce use.

Reporting to the Planning and Execution Manager, you’ll drive planning accuracy, coordinate with Sales, Customer Service and Operations, and proactively mitigate inventory risks to ensure on-time delivery and smooth manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in a relevant field (Operations/Logistics/SCM/Business).
  • 3–5 years of experience in production planning, procurement, inventory management, or SCM in manufacturing.
  • Bilingual in French and English; English required for external Quebec customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with accuracy and good decision-making.
  • Strong leadership, initiative and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Experience with SAP, KBM, MS Excel, Outlook and Teams is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop optimized production schedules based on sales forecasts, orders, and capacity.
  • Propose and implement procedures to improve production processes.
  • Update plans daily based on information from sales, customer service and operations.
  • Identify and mitigate inventory shortages and supply risks.
  • Procure components to support the production schedule and monitor supplier orders.
  • Recommend corrective actions for supplier delays or disruptions.
  • Prepare production reports and monitor KPIs.
  • Suggest improvements to planning tools and processes and drive continuous improvement ideas.

Job description

Reporting to the Planning and Execution Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for translating customer orders and sales forecasts into a production schedule. The incumbent ensures planning accuracy based on raw material availability while optimizing the use of equipment and workforce resources.

This position contributes to ABB Canada's Electrification, Installation Products (ELIP) division and is based in Montreal, Quebec.

The work model for this position is 100% on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Develop optimized production schedules for the assigned production cells based on sales forecasts, customer order priorities, workforce availability, and equipment capacity.
  • Initiate or participate in the development of procedures aimed at improving production processes.
  • Quickly respond to and incorporate new information provided by the Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams, adjusting production plans accordingly. Communicate production issues to the appropriate stakeholders on a daily basis.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential inventory shortages and develop appropriate action plans to mitigate supply risks.
  • Manage the procurement of components required to support the production schedule and closely monitor supplier orders.
  • Recommend corrective action plans in response to supplier delays and production schedule disruptions.
  • Complete production reports and effectively manage key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning tools and processes, and take the initiative to implement continuous improvement ideas.
Qualifications
  • College diploma or university degree in a relevant field such as Operations and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in production planning, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual in French and English. English is required to communicate with customers outside of Quebec.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, initiative, and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with SAP, KBM, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams is considered an asset.
