Reports to : Sr. Business Analyst

Work Type : Hybrid – 3 days a week in the office

Job Description

Summitt Energy is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our growing team in our Information Technology Department. The position reports directly to a Sr. Business Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for defining business needs and recommending solutions through the documentation of business requirements and user stories, validation of acceptance criteria, creation of process flows and gap analysis as well as workflow assessments in an effort to align and support the Information Technology solutions with the business initiatives. The Business Systems Analyst will act as a change agent within the company to support its vision of system excellence and optimal automation.

Key responsibilities :

• Assist with scope management and definition to ensure that product road map priorities as set out by the Sr. Business Analyst are executed as planned.
• Interpret business need - Identify, gather, analyze business information, define the scope of activities required to address the business issues. Artifacts created include Charters, Business Cases, BRDs, FRDs, Process Flow Diagrams, User Stories, Use Cases, Novels, Epics, Scope Documents, Wireframes, Test Plans and Test Cases.
• Analyze and document process improvements with a view to better utilization of resources, product enhancements, improved communications and faster issue resolution.
• Act as the liaison between business users and software development project teams to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of development of new functionality and reporting.
• Identify issues and escalate as appropriate; manage issue resolution as required.
• Support the project documentation (implementation plan, issues log, process maps, etc.) by capturing process flows and identifying and documenting gaps.
• Contribute to the design, development and implementation of information systems for business solutions.
• May be involved in developing proposals for small to medium projects.
• Lead testing and quality assurance analysis as part of the project team.
• Participate in project scrum meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications :

• Prior experience and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures related to business analysis and IT projects.
• Undergraduate degree in science, engineering, computer science, business or other relevant discipline with 5+ years of experience in software development or Business Systems Analysis.
• Ability to understand the effective application of technology to solve business problems.
• Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS Project and MS Visio (or similar product for process flows).
• Experience with Software Testing and developing a Quality Assurance Strategy.
• Experience in using formal business analysis documentation software.
• Experience in writing technical reports and other documentation.
• Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• CBAP certification considered an asset.
• TFS or JIRA experience considered an asset.
• Ability to perform requested tasks with minimal direction.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, under tight timelines, with great attention to details.
• Ability to work flexible hours when required.
• Understanding and experience testing Energy Market transactions considered an asset.
