Job summary

IKEA Etobicoke and Toronto Downtown units seek a Unit Business Risk & Compliance Manager to lead risk, safety, and compliance across locations. You will partner with local leadership to drive a risk-aware culture and ensure adherence to Ingka Rules and local laws.

This role requires 5+ years of leadership in risk/health & safety, strong analytical skills, and stakeholder influence. The position is based at IKEA Etobicoke with potential cross-location support; CAD 75,303–94,129 starting

Responsibilities

  • Promote risk management in the unit to develop risk-aware decision making.
  • Ensure implementation of Ingka Rules and local legislation for a safe and secure environment.
  • Conduct internal investigations with local and country stakeholders and plan needed trainings.
  • Coordinate Unit Crisis Management Team and ensure crisis trainings and protocols are in place.
  • Act as single point of contact for risk & compliance with authorities and manage external vendors.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience with a track record of developing and leading high-performing teams in Risk Management, Health & Safety, Compliance, Security, Loss Prevention, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, compliance requirements, and risk management practices
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Experience fostering a strong culture of safety, security, accountability, and compliance
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions
  • Ability to lead through change and adapt to different teams, customer profiles, and operational environments
  • Experience managing multiple sites, vendors, or external partners is an asset
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills
  • Agile mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
A DAY IN YOUR LIFE WITH US
  • Promote risk management in the unit, informing and sharing expertise, in order to develop risk-aware decision taking in relation to unit goals and unit business plan. Create a Risk & Compliance culture by developing leadership and conscious approach in identifying, as well as implementing systems to detect, analyse and reduce business loss, financial impact, prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Secure the implementation and follow through of Ingka Rules and Local (country and regional) legislation, guiding local stakeholders to ensure compliance and a healthy, safe and secure environment for customers, visitors, co-workers and external partners, also operating risk and compliance verifications within the matrix framework.
  • Conduct internal investigations, analysing unit processes and data in collaboration with local and country stakeholders, following Ingka group rules and standards to ensure compliance. Identify and plan for the proper trainings needed, as well as facilitate for co-workers and external partners to meet IKEA's/Ingka's risk appetite.
  • Coordinate the Unit Crisis Management Team for the handling of any emergency cases and perform appropriate actions according to the "Ingka Emergency Response rules" to ensure process is followed and all key stakeholders are involved. Plan for and ensure that Crisis Management trainings and ways of working are in place in accordance with the CMT working method and Country and Local CMT plans and protocols to ensure all involved know their responsibilities.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all the matters connected to Risk & Compliance when it comes from Authorities (when applicable). Coordinate external vendors and appropriate vendor management to ensure proactive mitigation of risk by ensuring the right resources.

(Etobicoke & Toronto Downtown)

This role is primarily based out of IKEA Etobicoke and supports both the IKEA Etobicoke and IKEA Toronto Downtown units. Depending on business needs, you will be required to work from and support both locations, partnering with local leadership teams to drive a strong culture of safety, security, risk management, and compliance.

The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 75303 CAD to 94129 CAD and will be based on relevant work experience.
