Job summary

Inter IKEA Systems B.V. in Burlington, Canada, is seeking a Unit Business Risk & Compliance Leader with extensive experience in security, risk management and health & safety.

You will lead risk programs, coordinate crisis management, and ensure regulatory compliance across local and national requirements. The role focuses on building a risk-aware culture, guiding stakeholders, conducting investigations, and maintaining strong relationships with authorities and vendors.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in Security, Risk Management, Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of health, safety, and security legislation, compliance requirements, risk management practices, and Ingka Group policies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation and change management skills, with ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate KPIs and goals into actionable plans.
  • Experience conducting internal investigations and balancing strategic needs with operational safety priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote risk management in the unit and develop risk-aware decision making in line with unit goals and business plan.
  • Ensure compliance with Ingka Rules and local legislation, guiding stakeholders to maintain a safe environment for customers, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Conduct internal investigations with local stakeholders and plan trainings to meet risk appetite.
  • Coordinate Unit Crisis Management Team and ensure crisis trainings and procedures are in place.
  • Act as single point of contact for risk & compliance with authorities and manage external vendors to mitigate risk.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Security, Risk Management, Health & Safety, or a related field, with a proven track record of creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant work environment.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, including identifying root causes, driving continuous improvement, managing emergencies and confidential matters, and balancing strategic business needs with operational security and safety priorities.
A day in your life with us
  • Promote risk Management in the unit, informing and sharing expertise, in order to develop risk-aware decision taking in relation to unit goals and unit business plan. Create a Risk & Compliance culture by developing leadership and conscious approach in identifying, as well as implementing systems to detect, analyse and reduce business loss, financial impact, prevent incidents and accidents.
  • Secure the implementation and follow through of Ingka Rules and Local (country and regional) legislation, guiding local stakeholders, to ensure compliance and a healthy, safe and secure environment for customers, visitors, co-workers and external partners, also operating risk and compliance verifications within the matrix framework.
  • Conduct internal investigations, analysing unit processes and data in collaboration with local and country stakeholders, following Ingka group rules and standards to ensure compliance. Identify and plan for the proper trainings needed, as well as facilitate for co-workers and external partners to meet IKEA's/Ingka's risk appetite.
  • Coordinate the Unit Crisis Management Team for the handling of any emergency cases and perform appropriate actions according to the “Ingka Emergency Response rules” to ensure process is followed and all key stakeholders are involved. Plan for and ensure that Crisis Management trainings and ways of working are in place in accordance with the CMT working method and Country and Local CMT plans and protocols to ensure all involved know their responsibilities.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all the matters connected to Risk & Compliance when it comes from Authorities (when applicable). Coordinate external vendors and appropriate vendor Management to ensure proactive mitigation of risk by ensuring the right resources.

The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 62710 CAD to 86226 CAD and will be based on relevant work experience.
