Job summary

IKEA Gruppe in Canada seeks a Country Data Privacy Leader to lead local privacy and data protection activities, ensuring compliance with policies and laws. You will perform PIAs, privacy reviews, and risk assessments for new and existing solutions and data management activities.

You will respond to privacy inquiries, manage incidents and risk registers, and collaborate with Legal, IT, and business teams to embed privacy-by-design.

Qualifications

  • University degree with 4+ years of related privacy, compliance, risk management, legal, information security, or a related field.
  • Experience responding to privacy inquiries from customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and privacy reviews for new technologies, systems, processes, and data management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of local privacy and data protection activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, privacy requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), privacy reviews, and risk assessments for new and existing solutions, technologies, processes, and data management activities.
  • Respond to privacy-related inquiries from customers, employees, suppliers, and business stakeholders, providing guidance and recommendations to support compliance and risk management.
  • Investigate and manage privacy incidents and data breaches, coordinating containment, risk assessment, documentation, stakeholder communications, regulatory obligations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update privacy risk registers, identifying emerging risks and implementing mitigation measures to support the organization's privacy strategy and objectives.
  • Support the management of privacy requirements throughout the supplier lifecycle, including vendor assessments, onboarding, monitoring, and ongoing compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Information Security, IT, Risk Management, and business teams to embed privacy-by-design principles and strengthen privacy governance across the organization.
  • Build privacy awareness and maturity by guiding stakeholders on privacy requirements, policies, best practices, and evolving legislative obligations.
  • Monitor changes in privacy legislation, regulatory expectations, and industry trends, recommending improvements to processes, controls, and ways of working.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve privacy practices, governance frameworks, and operational processes while supporting industry-standard best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess privacy risks and recommend practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate partners at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
What you'll be doing day to day

The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 75,303 CAD to 103,542 CAD and will be based on relevant work experience.
