Business Development Specialist – Digital Buildings

Position Summary:

The Business Development Specialist – Digital Buildings is responsible for aggressively developing specifications and end-user relationships to create demand for Graybar Canada core suppliers and contractor partners. This role requires a strategic thinker who works well with all lines of business within Graybar Canada and provides solutions for our customers that address their current and future business needs for security, sustainability, decarbonization, and electrification.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. This is a "hunting" role that will actively seek new customers in the Central Region that will enable the company to secure profitable business while maintaining and developing relationships with current customers.
  2. Develop Sales, Execution and Tracking plan using Salesforce.
  3. Create and execute a CSP (Core Supplier Plan) to increase core supplier product sales through account targeting and co-operative activities.
  4. Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as required focused in the CIG markets.
  5. Partner with other Graybar sales and business development specialists where appropriate to leverage total solution capability.
  6. Manage regional strategic partnerships in Property Management and End User verticals.
  7. Ensure compliance with company Code of Ethics and Policies.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  1. Technical degree or diploma preferred but is not mandatory.
  2. Three years of relevant sales or industry experience is considered an asset.
  3. Must have a passion for sales and a "hunter" mentality.
  4. Knowledge of Data & Communications and/or buildings systems is considered an asset.
  5. Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce is an asset.
  6. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.
  7. Strong negotiating skills.
  8. Able to prioritize daily tasks and work independently.
  9. Consistently able to meet deadlines.
  10. Possesses strong relationship-building skills to cultivate and develop customer loyalty.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Products.
