As a Business Development Specialist a typical day might include:
- Conducting market research to identify potential clients, partners, and new business opportunities, and books introductory meetings with new commercial accounts which meet Axis criteria
- Working with Account Executives to Identify target industries and/or market segment to focus network building, prospecting, and development of specialized knowledge and expertise on common coverage situations, industry trends, and upcoming developments in commercial insurance impacting target clients
- Generating leads through networking, cold calling, attending events, and other outreach strategies.
- Developing and executing sales plans to achieve growth targets for commercial insurance products.
- Monitoring industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation.
- Preparing and delivering compelling presentations, proposals, and sales pitches tailored to client requirements.
- Working closely with internal teams, to align business development strategies with company goals.
- Tracking and reporting on sales metrics, client acquisition, and retention rates and develop metrics to measure success and provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities.
- Analyzing sales data to refine strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Preparing regular reports for management on progress toward business development goals.
- Entering and maintaining all required information in Salesforce CRM
- Staying updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and potential impacts on the business.
- Staying informed about commercial insurance products, and market conditions.

Must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Must currently hold, or obtain within 90 days of hire, a Property & Casualty license for the appropriate state of business. Compliance with continuing education requirements is required to maintain active licensing
- Experience with Salesforce preferred
You want a leg up?
- Experience in Commercial Insurance preferred but not required
- Experience in technology and/or mining is considered an asset
