Summit Search Group is seeking a driven Business Development Manager to join our client’s Western Canadian team. You will open new doors, build relationships with operators, contractors, procurement teams, and engineers, and identify upcoming opportunities across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The role emphasizes field-erected construction opportunities, active networking at trade shows, and collaboration with project management, engineering, and drafting teams to support opportunities and quotes.

Qualifications

  • A driven, personable, and relationship-focused individual.
  • Proven success in business development, outside sales, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Strong existing relationships within Oil & Gas, construction, engineering, steel, procurement, or related industrial markets.
  • Experience within Oil & Gas or related industries is an asset.
  • Established network and ability to open doors with new customers.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across Western Canada.
  • Build and maintain relationships with operators, contractors, procurement teams, project managers, engineers, and other key decision makers.
  • Develop new opportunities for field erected construction by building relationships with operators, contractors, project managers, and engineers, while pursuing approved bidder lists and MSA opportunities.
  • Conduct customer visits, meetings, site visits, and other business development activities throughout the territory.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, lunches, and other networking opportunities to represent the company and develop new relationships.
  • Follow up with customers after completed projects to gather feedback and identify future opportunities.
  • Work closely with project management, engineering, and drafting teams to support customer opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and pricing to inform sales strategy.
  • Support quotes, proposals, commercial discussions, and contract negotiations as required.

Job description

Our client is an established Western Canadian provider of industrial fabrication, construction and maintenance solutions with operations across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a driven and relationship focused Business Development Manager to join their team. This is a newly created position for someone who can take an established company into the market more proactively, build new relationships, and generate new business opportunities across Western Canada.

This is a true business development role focused on getting in front of operators, contractors, procurement teams, project managers, engineers, and other key decision makers. You will be responsible for opening doors, developing relationships, identifying upcoming opportunities, and bringing new business into the organization while working closely with the internal project and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across Western Canada.

• Build and maintain relationships with operators, contractors, procurement teams, project managers, engineers, and other key decision makers.

• Develop new opportunities for field erected construction by building relationships with operators, contractors, project managers, and engineers, while pursuing approved bidder lists and MSA opportunities.

Candidate Profile:

• A driven, personable, and relationship focused individual with a natural ability to build rapport and develop long term customer relationships.

• Proven success in business development, outside sales, or a related customer facing sales role.

• Strong existing relationships within Oil and Gas, construction, engineering, steel, procurement, or related industrial markets are a significant asset.

• Experience within the Oil & Gas or related industries is an asset.

• An established network and the ability to open doors with new customers.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% throughout Western Canada.
