Crew HR is seeking a Business Development Manager for our client, Global Rock Works!

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

  • Do you have the experience and technical expertise to speak confidently about geohazard mitigation and the skills to turn that knowledge into innovative, safety-driven solutions for clients?
  • Are you a natural deal-maker who thrives on building strong relationships and closing high-value contracts?
  • Are you driven by the challenge of hunting for new business, knocking on doors, and turning connections into long-term partnerships?
  • Do you love the freedom of being on the road, meeting clients face-to-face, and making things happen?
  • Are you relentless in the pursuit of success, willing to put in the effort to unlock high earning potential?
  • Do you have a strong network in industries like mining, utilities, highways, and railroads—and the drive to leverage those connections into lasting business partnerships?
  • Can you seamlessly balance technical conversations with a consultative sales approach, making complex concepts easy for clients to understand?
  • Would you thrive in a role where success is measured by your drive, problem-solving skills, and ability to build genuine trust—while working with a team that shares your love for the outdoors and high performance?

ABOUT GLOBAL ROCK WORKS

Global Rock Works is North America’s first rope-access-certified geohazard mitigation company, specializing in high-angle and remote access projects. With operations across Western Canada and the US, we provide innovative, safety-driven solutions that protect infrastructure, assets, and communities. From highways and railways to mines and utilities, our work safeguards critical industries against rockfall, landslides, and other geohazards.

At Global Rock Works, our reputation is built on safety, integrity, and determination. We don’t just mitigate risks, we solve complex geological challenges with precision and expertise. Our team is made up of some of the best in the industry—motivated problem-solvers and relentless go-getters who thrive in high-stakes environments and take pride in delivering exceptional results.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a highly motivated Business Development Manager to drive new business, build lasting partnerships, and grow our presence in Western Canada. This role is perfect for an experienced Business Development Manager with expertise in Geohazard Mitigation and Slope Stabilization—a technical-minded sales professional who enjoys being on the road, building relationships, and turning industry connections into long-term business opportunities. If you have the drive to hunt for new business, the expertise to provide strategic solutions, and the energy to thrive in a high-octane, high-reward role, we want to hear from you.

This is where you come in.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF :

  • You’re a true industry expert. Whether in geohazard mitigation, geotechnical engineering, or adjacent industries, you understand the landscape, the players, and how to connect the dots.
  • You have a proven track record in sales, consistently closing projects annually and exceeding targets.
  • You’re a hunter. Driven, relentless, and strategic in seeking out new business while protecting and expanding existing accounts.
  • You know the industry inside and out. From suppliers to contractors, you leverage your network to uncover opportunities and drive results.
  • You take a consultative sales approach, working closely with clients to provide tailored solutions and build long-term partnerships.
  • You’re as comfortable on a job site as on a golf course. Professional, polished, and able to engage clients in any setting.
  • You thrive on face-to-face interactions and don’t mind spending the majority of your time on the road, visiting job sites, and meeting clients where they are.
  • You have high energy and stamina. You're always moving, thinking, and closing deals.
  • You’re tenacious but never pushy. You’ll turn over 10,000 opportunities to find the one that sticks, and if a door doesn’t open today, you’ll (professionally) knock again tomorrow.
  • You’re a problem solver, not a salesperson. No rinse-and-repeat approach here, just technical expertise and creative thinking.
  • You show up with confidence and professionalism every day. Your presence, knowledge, and attention to detail make clients trust you from the first meeting.
  • You have a growth mindset, always looking for the next opportunity, the next deal, and the next challenge.
  • You value relationships over transactions. Friendships evolve naturally into business because you genuinely connect with people.
  • You’re independent but collaborative. You take the initiative and own your success, but you’re also invested in the team’s success.
  • You operate with precision, ensuring every detail is accounted for. Whether preparing estimates, structuring deals, or documenting client interactions, you take pride in delivering accurate, error-free work.
  • You enjoy socializing while representing the company with professionalism. Whether it’s a client dinner, a networking event, or a round of golf, you know how to connect, build rapport, and keep business at the forefront.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BE :

  • Identifying and pursuing new opportunities to expand our market presence in Western Canada.
  • Building and nurturing long-term relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and account growth.
  • Hosting client meetings, networking at industry events, and attending trade shows to represent Global Rock Works and cultivate valuable connections.
  • Understanding client challenges in geohazard mitigation, proactively presenting solutions, and driving interest in our services.
  • Preparing accurate estimates and customized proposals, leading contract negotiations, and ensuring all agreements align with client expectations and company standards.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to create innovative solutions that address client challenges and open new avenues for service expansion.
  • Keeping detailed records of client interactions, estimates, and contracts while tracking performance against business goals and sales targets.
  • Facilitating project handoffs, leading internal kick-off meetings, and ensuring smooth communication between sales and operations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conducting post-project follow-ups to gather client feedback, build long-term relationships, and secure testimonials and referrals for future growth.
  • Offering clients valuable advice and identifying opportunities for expanded services within existing accounts.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of experience in account management and business development, ideally in geohazard mitigation or related industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
  • Established industry network within Western Canada, particularly in mining, utilities, highways, and railroads.
  • Proven sales track record, successfully closing sales annually and consistently exceeding revenue targets and KPIs in a high-accountability environment.
  • Geohazard mitigation estimating experience is a must, with a strong ability to prepare detailed estimates and proposals and a history of closing complex contracts.
  • Strong communicator and negotiator, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders with confidence.
  • Experienced in collaborating with project managers and technical teams, delivering client-focused solutions.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, geohazard-specific estimating software, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Frequent travel is required to multiple locations. You must be comfortable spending lots of time on the road, attending client meetings, site visits, working dinners, golf events, and networking opportunities any day of the week.
  • Must be located in BC near a medium-sized airport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Hunter mentality—driven, persistent, and solutions-focused, turning challenges into opportunities and building long-term client success.

THE BENEFITS

  • Competitive compensation package including a strong base salary and an uncapped generous bonus.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance to keep you covered.
  • Be part of a respected and established company known for quality work and safety.
  • Work on high-profile, iconic, and challenging projects that make a real impact.
  • Embrace a Kaizen approach—continuous improvement and innovation are at the core of what we do.
  • Join a team that is Core Certified and has earned multiple industry safety awards for excellence in workplace safety.
  • Company-provided F150 truck lease and travel budget. This is a role that’s on the move, and we set you up for success.
  • Company-provided laptop to support your work in the field and on the go.
  • Play a key role in shaping local infrastructure as part of a small, high-impact team where your contributions matter.
  • Mentorship and leadership support, reporting directly to the Divisional Manager.
  • Get in early and ride the rocket ship. We’re growing fast, and there’s huge potential for career and financial growth.
  • Celebrate wins with generous financial rewards, great food, and fun crews!

Compensation : Base salary of $75,000 - $100,000, plus uncapped commission. On-target earnings (OTE) of 200K + with high performers earning beyond this range.
