Job Description
Mandate Overview:
- The team supports DGAG's ambition to become the 5th largest commercial P&C insurer in Canada by 2030, with an enhanced business offering distributed through brokers. The BA works upstream: identifying needs, framing scope, quantifying costs and benefits, then recommending a solution and influencing decision-makers. The mandate requires P&C experience and at least one of four domains (commercial lines, claims, compliance and regulatory reporting, broker distribution), but the narrative presents three of these as expected expertise, which is submitted to the client. "Lead" applies to the analysis, in collaboration with the PO and project manager, not to project management. Political acumen and the ability to reconcile multiple stakeholders weigh in success.
- Target candidate: a business analyst with at least 6 years of experience, part of it demonstrated in P&C insurance, ideally in commercial lines or claims within a broker distribution model. They have defined scope and recommended solutions on complex projects in an Agile context, and Guidewire exposure puts them ahead.
Requirements
Required:
- Intermediate advanced business analyst profile
- P&C insurance experience
- Experience in one or more domains: commercial lines, claims, compliance and regulatory reporting, broker-distributed insurance
- Demonstrated Agile experience and understanding of project management methodologies
- Knowledge of Guidewire
Asset:
- Experience at DGAG
- Guidewire training or certification
Profiles to Exclude:
- BA profile whose insurance experience is limited to life, individual or group insurance, with no demonstrated P&C mandate.
- Profile mentioning P&C projects without demonstrated responsibility in at least one of the four targeted domains.
- Profile presenting Guidewire configuration without needs elicitation, scope definition or impact analysis.
- Product Owner, project manager or Scrum Master profile presented as equivalent to a BA role.
- Profile mentioning Agile without demonstrated participation in an Agile team (backlog, PO collaboration, ceremonies).
- Profile whose BA experience is limited to documenting requirements, without cost, benefit and risk analysis or solution recommendation.
