Toronto Metropolitan University is seeking a Business Analyst to support the Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions System, bridging functional users with the CCS team and guiding requirements, specifications, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Information Technology or related field with 1+ year training in database management and processing of mass data sets.
  • 5+ years experience in a business systems environment with solid understanding of systems analysis, design and SQL.
  • 5+ years experience analysing user requirements and solving problems in a large Oracle/PeopleSoft environment (Campus Solutions preferred).
  • Superior analytical, research, problem solving, judgement and decision making to troubleshoot issues and design user-friendly processes.
  • Excellent communication, administrative, organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently within a team.
  • Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
  • Note: Candidates may be asked to demonstrate qualifications through an occupational test.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated record of dependability/reliability and a commitment to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions System user community by analyzing functional requirements with functional users.
  • Develop functional specifications for the CCS technical group for new functions and processes.
  • Act as a bridge between the technical support area and the functional user community; assist with problem solving and troubleshooting of system issues.

About the Office of the Registrar

The Office of the Registrar (RO) contributes to Toronto Metropolitan University’s bold vision by providing the bedrock of innovative systems and structures required to build a world-leading institution. The opportunity

The Business Analyst utilizes their business knowledge and analytical skills in combination with their experience and understanding of data structures to provide
support to the Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions System user community. The incumbent determines and analyzes functional requirements in collaboration with functional users, develops functional specifications for the technical group Computing & Communications Services (CCS) for new functions and/or processes. The successful candidate acts as a bridge between the technical support area and the functional user community and supports functional users in problem solving and troubleshooting system issues.

  • Post‑secondary degree in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of one additional year of training in database management and processing of mass data sets.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a business systems environment with a solid understanding and command of systems analysis, design and SQL.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience analysing user requirements and excellent problem‑solving skills in a large integrated Oracle/PeopleSoft systems
    environment (Campus Solutions preferred) with minimal assistance or direction.
  • Superior analytical, research, problem solving, judgement and decision making skills are required to troubleshoot issues, to interpret functional users’ needs and identify the root cause of issues; to develop user friendly processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, administrative, organization, problem solving, and analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently within a team environment.
  • Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
