Job summary

School District 5 Southeast Kootenay in Elkford, Alberta, is seeking a temporary custodian for a 40-hour weekly, year-round role. The successful candidate maintains secure, clean, and safe facilities, operates custodial equipment, and performs routine repairs under the Director of Operations or designate.

The wage rate follows the CUPE Local 4165 Agreement at $24.81 per hour, with duties including cleaning, snow removal, inventory control, and reporting maintenance concerns.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent or willing to obtain.
• Driver's License would be considered an asset.
• Experience/formal training cleaning in a related field would be considered an asset.
• Computer skills would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure secure, safe and sanitary conditions of the facility and grounds, such as setting alarms, locking doors, snow removal, dusting, sweeping, washing and garbage pickup.
• Perform cleaning, maintenance and restoration of floors, e.g., stripping and waxing.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies and order as needed.
• Operate and care for equipment related to the position.
• Make routine repairs regularly.
• Develop work methods in agreement with the Director of Operations or designate for assigned tasks.
• Report maintenance concerns to the principal/vice principal.
• Check daily with the school principal/vice principal for specific school needs.
• Complete daily checklist of duties.
• Perform other job-related duties.
