Job summary

Aerotek is hiring an experienced Building Operator for our client located in Oliver, BC. This permanent, onsite role offers mornings 8:00am to 4:30pm with occasional on-call weekends, focusing on operating and maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems within a large facility.

The position requires a minimum of 5 years in building operations or related fields, with Journeyman certification an asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years as Building Operator, facilities maintenance, construction, or related experience; Journeyman certification considered an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain required security clearances.
• Experience operating and maintaining commercial building systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, BAS/BMS, electrical distribution and life safety systems.
• Proficiency with CMMS, BAS/BMS, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, work protection codes, and incident investigation practices.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, tenants, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire life safety, and building automation systems (BMS).
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of building equipment and systems.
• Respond to service requests, equipment breakdowns, and emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Monitor building performance and coordinate corrective maintenance to ensure reliable facility operations.
• Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Support generator testing, fire system maintenance, and other critical building systems.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and tenants to complete maintenance activities effectively.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to building operations staff as required.
• Assist with facility maintenance planning and continuous improvement of building operations.
