The Building Operations and Maintenance Advisor role in Edmonton provides leadership for planning, development, and implementation of Operational and Maintenance (OM) programs across government facilities. Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government’s Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta’s population that support key social programs and services and economic development.
The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Properties’ Programs & Integration Unit is the primary point of contact and resource, for the regional offices within the Properties Branch, for business, technical, systems, and process expertise, with the goal of facilitating uniformity, continuous improvement, and innovation in relation to property management practices. Programs & Integration is accountable for knowledge management and consistency relating
to Properties business, accommodations, major maintenance, facilities management, and project delivery processes, as well as for providing associated training, and identifying and promoting the application of best practices.
The Building Operations and Maintenance Advisor is a key resource within the Building Support Team, reporting to the Building Support Manager. This position is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of Operational and Maintenance (OM) Programs in all Government owned and operated facilities province-wide. The purpose of the program is to:
1. Operate building systems as per the design intent to maintain a safe, comfortable, and productive environment.
2. Maximize reliability and useful life of equipment and systems.
3. Minimize energy and operating costs.
4. Forecast preventive maintenance resource requirements (cost and manpower)
