Job summary

A leading organization is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Worker to ensure that buildings and systems are maintained to industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set in maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems. This role requires a hands-on problem solver who can work independently and is safety-minded. The position involves both fieldwork and office tasks, with potential evening or weekend work for emergencies.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years work experience in plumbing, electrical systems, and/or building maintenance.
  • Willingness to pursue additional accreditations relevant to building maintenance.

Job description

Schedule: 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

Salary Or Wage: $27.50 to $29.50 per hour

List of Requirements

Training, Education, Experience

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent); trade certificate or 3-4 years apprenticeship is an asset.
  • 2-3 years work experience in plumbing, electrical systems, and/or building maintenance.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with plumbing and electrical systems, and/or willingness to undergo basic HVAC training.
  • Willingness to pursue additional accreditations relevant to building maintenance.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Specific working knowledge of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems is an asset.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong technical skills.
  • Safety-minded.
  • Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Excellent work ethic, discipline and self-motivation.
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Acceptable Police Information Check prior to employment.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
List of Duties

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin policies, standards, practices, and procedures as directed by the Building Maintenance Coordinator. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees, and general matters of the Nation.

This role includes but is not limited to:

  • Monitors and carries out preventative maintenance procedures for building, equipment, and grounds including but not limited to:
  • Landscaping, pressure-washing, window, and gutter cleaning.
  • Repairing dry wall, painting.
  • Replacing damaged or expired fixtures or building components.
  • Responds to maintenance requests and handles necessary repairs in the building.
  • Supports special event setups.
  • Keeps accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to the Building Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Tla’amin Nation is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Worker to assist in ensuring that Nation Buildings and Systems are maintained and repaired to industry best practices and standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a broad skill set in general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.

Working Conditions
The Building Maintenance Worker will often be working in the field on their feet and expected to complete minor repairs and maintenance when needed. There will also be work in an office setting when needed. May require evening/weekend work on an emergency basis.
