Job DescriptionThe City of Port Moody has an excellent opportunity for a regular, full-time Trails Maintenance Worker to join our Parks team.
The Trails Maintenance worker assists with the construction, maintenance and operations of city trail networks while ensuring the safety of staff and the public using the trails.
Responsibilities:- Assist with planning construction and keep maintenance records of parks infrastructure
- Operate, clean and perform minor maintenance on a variety of equipment
- Keep simple records related to the inspection and maintenance of municipal parks infrastrucre including trails, bridges, culverts, fences, boardwalks, gates, signage, and other
- Perform routine manual semi-skilled maintenance activities on parks and trails infrastrucure, including natural area installations of new trails
- Ensure safety of all staff and public using the city’s trail network
- Liaise with other areas within the Parks department
BasicQualifications:- Secondary school graduation (Grade 12)
- Two to three years of job related experience including small equipment operation, pruning, carpentry, chainsaw, parks and trail construction and parks and trail maintenance
- Knowledge of trail layout, design and drainage
- Carpentry and arboriculture skills and knowledge
- Experience designing, constructing and installing boardwalks
- Experience working in steep terrain and inaccessible outdoor areas
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with small equipment operation
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
- Certifications: Chainsaw; CESCL; ISA would be an asset
