Facilities Maintenance Worker

Classification: Full time, Permanent

Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Location: Williams Lake, BC

Deadline: Until filled

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.

The Facilities Maintenance Worker position plays an important role in ensuring the proper functioning and upkeep of our facilities. This role requires a high degree of organization, responsibility, and problem-solving skills with a strong customer service focus. This role does require a flexible shift start time due to snow removal and landscaping work and does require being available for rotational weekend on-call work. The Facilities Maintenance Worker reports to the Facilities and Fleet Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs

Conduct preventative maintenance tasks including equipment checks, cleaning and adjustments

Diagnose and complete minor repairs to mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems

Respond to maintenance work request and resolve issues promptly and efficiently

Maintain the building interior and exterior by completing minor janitorial duties

Complete grounds upkeeping including mowing lawns and removing trash

Complete snow and ice removal from entrances, walkways and sidewalks

Ensure compliance with safety regulations

Operate small equipment and hand tools

Maintain accurate maintenance records

Update and review maintenance requests and work orders

Procure parts, supplies and equipment as needed for facilities work

Seasonal tire change over and basic mechanical maintenance to fleet vehicle and equipment

Perform additional operations and maintenance duties as assigned

Requirements

Strong technical and mechanical ability required with proven experience as a Facilities Maintenance Worker or similar role

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in facilities maintenance or related field is an asset

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems

Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing equipment and systems

Basic understanding of building codes and safety regulations

Strong attention to detail and
accuracy

Excellent research, problem analysis, decision making and problem-solving
skills.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, staff and supervisors
including
the
ability

or
demanding

with
tact
and
diplomacy

Flexible, trustworthy and
reliable

Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet
deadlines

Valid Class 5 Drivers
License

Experience operating snow plow and skid steer equipment or willingness to be trained

Working Conditions

Travel will be required

Irregular work hours including weekend on-call work will be required

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

Overtime as required

Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
