Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. seeks a Building Envelope Student for our Toronto District within the Canadian Buildings Division. This position is available for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027.

Responsibilities include reviewing design documents for envelope issues, assisting in submittal reviews, participating in meetings, site and plant reviews, and helping develop remedial strategies with manufacturers and team members.

Qualifications

• Candidates have taken a building envelope or building science course and understand fundamental control layers (air, water, vapour, thermal).
• Strong desire to work in construction; ability to read architectural drawings; field experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with common software: word processing, spreadsheets, drafting.

Responsibilities

• Complete plant and site reviews, deficiency walks, and attend lab/field testing.

We are seeking a Building Envelope Student for our Toronto District, within our Canadian Buildings Division who is available for 4 month or 8 months starting January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Reviews design documents to identify potential building envelope performance issues
• Participates in the review of project submittals
• Participates in project meetings and first installation reviews
• Completes plant reviews, site reviews and/or deficiency walks
• Attends laboratory and field testing
• Assists with the development of remedial strategies for building envelope issues encountered by meeting with manufacturers, marking up details, and working collaboratively with the team members
• Prepares site review reports
• Contributes to the preparation of internal quality documents
• Promotes and coordinate building envelope events with external experts
• Meets with product suppliers to evaluate and obtain information on building envelope materials
• Supports developing building envelope training material

Qualifications

• Candidates must have taken a building envelope or building science course, and understand the fundamental control layers required within the building envelope (i.e. air, water, vapour and thermal control)
• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment, able to read architectural drawings, and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

The estimated hourly range for this role is $21.37- $31.33, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
