Job summary

SASCU is seeking a Broker Specialist in Salmon Arm, BC, to strengthen broker relationships and grow the mortgage business. You will influence lending decisions through analysis, due diligence, and policy alignment, while balancing risk, margin, and profitability.

You will maintain strong broker workflows, ensure smooth mortgage progression, and actively contribute to One SASCU initiatives, delivering trusted service to members and partners.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-5 years of financial services experience with a strong focus on residential mortgage lending.
  • Experience with the mortgage broker industry and broker-generated mortgage business.
  • Advanced knowledge of residential mortgages, including SASCU’s Investment and Lending Policy.
  • Strong understanding of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) products and policies.
  • Completion of CUIC 210 (Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lending) and CUIC 240 (Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning).
  • Advanced knowledge of SASCU products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Build and proactively manage productive relationships with brokers and broker houses, identifying opportunities for profitable growth and positions SASCU as a responsive and trusted mortgage partner.
  • Ensure broker-generated mortgage applications result in sound, well-supported lending decisions by applying strong analysis, due diligence, and residential mortgage expertise in alignment with SASCU policies, guidelines, and approval authorities.
  • Ensure approved broker mortgages progress efficiently to completion through accurate documentation, effective follow-up, and appropriate due diligence.
  • Deliver a consistent and responsive broker experience that builds trust, strengthens relationships, and positions SASCU as a valued partner.
  • Maintain accurate and well-controlled broker financial processes to protect the integrity of transactions, commissions, accounts, and reporting.
  • Deepen broker and member relationships by connecting opportunities across SASCU and contributing to referral and One SASCU outcomes.
  • Strengthen SASCU’s presence and credibility within the mortgage community by building productive relationships with brokers and industry partners.
  • Strengthen internal mortgage capability and broker service delivery by sharing expertise, staying current, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Description

As a Broker Specialist, you will strengthen SASCU’s ability to Raise the Shuswap by building trusted broker relationships and creating a responsive, reliable pathway for mortgage business that supports the financial health of our members and communities. Through sound analysis, disciplined mortgage processing, and proactive relationship management, you will turn opportunities into sustainable business while balancing service, risk, margin, and profitability.
