The positionis responsible forconducting examinationsto assess mortgage broker compliance withregulatory requirements.

Conductsresearch, gathers and analyses information from a variety of internal and external sources.
Identifiesrisks, themes and/or systemic issues and contributes to the development of mortgage broker segment risk assessment.
Makes recommendationsregardingthe subject,approachand scope ofexaminations.
Carries out desk-based and/or on-site examinations by conducting interviews,gatheringand evaluating documentary evidencein accordance withexamination plan, testingproceduresand legislative requirements.
Reviewsvarious financial documents, including bank statements, Accountant’s Reports and Financial Statements.
Preparescomprehensivereportsthat include evidence of findings,resultsand recommendations.
Encourages voluntary complianceduring the course ofexaminations,identifiesopportunities to educate industry participants and reinforce good business practices that align with regulatory expectations.
Supports the formal regulatory intervention or enforcement action and testifies at regulatory, tribunal, and other hearings, asrequired.
Participates and contributes to strategic initiatives, specialprojectsand working groups.
Contributes to the team’s development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures, and tools).
Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.
Contributes to,participatesin, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and/or policies governing the regulatory program or similar regulatory programs.
Knowledge of mortgage broker or mortgage lending industry business practices and structures.
Knowledge of risk management principles and methods.
Ability to exercise judgement, initiative, and discretion.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of audit/examinations principles is an asset.
Degree in business, public administration, or accounting, and some years of related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related experience includes:
Interpreting and applying legislation, regulationsand/or policy;
Executing audits/examinations;
Underwriting in the mortgage broker industry.
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the real estate and/or mortgage broker industry.
Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and living in British Columbia or intent to settle in the province.
