Job summary

Eataly Yorkville in Toronto is hiring a Bread Baker for overnight, full-time shifts in our 24-hour bakery. You will produce bread and focaccia according to authentic Italian recipes, learning from and supporting the bakery team and engaging with guests curious about bread production.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of bakery experience, strong math and measuring skills, and a solid work ethic. Post-secondary culinary training is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year of experience in a baker preparation position.
• Basic math and measuring skills.
• Good work ethic, communication and time management skills.
• Post-secondary culinary program highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other bread items for Eataly’s restaurants and retail operations.
• Follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards.
• Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes.
• Assists Sales Associates if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our bread production.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

In Eataly’s 24-hour operating bakery, a Bread Baker is responsible for producing delicious bread and focaccia in accordance with our authentic Italian recipes. Reports to the Assistant Bakery Manager.

• Prepares bread, focaccia, rolls and other bread items for Eataly’s restaurants and retail operations
• Follows proper proofing and baking techniques for each variety of bread
• Maintains a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards
• Works towards mastering all shifts and production processes
• Assists Sales Associates if needed and engages with guests interested in learning about our bread production

Job Requirements

• Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule including overnight shifts, evenings and weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
• Ability to work with a wood burning oven, electric pizza convection oven and commercial spiral mixer

Compensation

• Compensation for this role is CAD $20.00-$22.00 hourly
• For shifts with a punch-in between 8:50 PM and 3:00 AM, team members earn a premium of CAD $2.00 per hour for all hours worked between 9:00 PM and 12:00 PM the following day
