Job Summary:

Joining Dentsu Creative’s award-winning strategy department will give you an opportunity to stretch your creative thinking across Canada’s biggest and most iconic brands and get access to the industry’s most-sought-after resources to build your career and profile.

The Brand Strategist acts as a connector of creative, content and communications strategies. From creative briefs to innovation projects, we’re looking for someone who can do research, synthesize information, and uncover trends to connect insights between consumers, culture, and brands. They will play an important role as a part of an integrated team to bring brand and communication strategies to life for some of the biggest Global and Canadian brands.

We’re looking for someone who…

  • Can research and synthesize consumer behaviours, cultural trends, competition and industry trends and benchmarks into challenges and insights capable of unlocking transformative strategies and ideas
  • Is actively participating in popular culture – whether it’s fashion, music, sports, politics, whatever – you have a strong pulse on what’s going on in the world, and can quickly translate that into opportunities for clients
  • Has a high EQ – they are in tune with the needs of their peers and clients, is innately curious, and is a natural collaborator
  • Has experience building integrated communication plans, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
  • Likes getting deep into cultures and subcultures – ChatGPT can tell you a lot about something or someone, but it can’t describe the human experience
  • Will work closely with the Strategy Director to weave your insights into a simple, impactful, and emotive brand story

  • Are insatiably curious about what makes people tick, brands distinctive, and ideas relevant in culture and in people’s lives
  • Can conduct research to help identify insights and understand category, brands, and target; proactively share key learnings with department and agency
  • Know how to do research topics and dive into information quickly , able to become versed in topics of the widest variety with skill and confidence in a short amount of time
  • Know how distil information and to get to the point, both in your spoken and written outputs.
  • Like to challenge the status quo and hate clichés and norms
  • Are passionate about effectiveness and want to make work that works
  • Have a propensity for teamwork, listening and mediation
  • You are proactive and willing to go beyond the mere execution of your tasks, exploring new and different solutions to accomplish them

Skills & Experience

  • 1+ Year agency experience working in an agency strategy department or related function
  • Strong verbal and written communication and data presentation skills
  • Ability to think critically about content – you can turn research into actionable conclusions, you know how to synthesize information and tell a story with it, etc.
  • Ability to effectively balance high quality with strict deadlines
  • Team working and collaborative attitude
  • Self-motivation and a problem-solving attitude
  • Innate curiosity and aptitude to learn

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $60-$70k. Actual salary within the salary range will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, and skills. A range of medical, dental, RRSP, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available to all permanent employees.
