School District #36 (Surrey) in British Columbia seeks a Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS) to assist immigrants and refugees with settlement and school integration, focusing on mental health, language proficiency, and family involvement.

The role offers casual hours, possible split shifts, evenings, and follows the district schedule; wage is $34.03 per hour with a pension, health, vacation and sick benefits in a unionized environment.

Competenze

• Grade 12 plus two years post-secondary education in social sciences, social work or counseling or equivalent.
• Minimum two years experience with diverse populations and newcomers to Canada.
• Strong knowledge of Outlook and MS Office; able to use Teams/Zoom as needed.
• Sensitivity to diverse cultural values and migration challenges.

Mansioni

• Conduct settlement needs assessment and action planning with clients.
• Provide settlement consultation on education system, health, housing and resources.
• Offer referrals, translation, and support for school enrollment.
• Organize settlement events and liaise with families and schools.
