School District 23: Central Okanagan in Canada is seeking a Family Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS) to support newcomer students and families. The role focuses on cultural competencies, social-emotional learning, attendance, and coordinating with teachers and community partners.

The position is temporary, full-time (35 hours/week) with a wage of $33.97/hour, starting soon and ending March 31, 2027. Training in district software and safety procedures is required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or equivalent in human relations, social sciences, teaching, counselling or social work; minimum one year related work experience in multicultural setting.
• Must be fluent (oral and written) in Arabic.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team under minimum supervision.
• Excellent knowledge and experience with all Microsoft modules including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.

Responsabilités

• Complete the district's Health and Safety training.
• Attend software training such as MyEd Level 1 and Level 2; TrueNorth and WEST; iCare and other programs as required.
