Job summary

PartnerRe Ltd. is seeking an experienced underwriter to assess risk across multiple lines of business in a hybrid Toronto role. You will maintain strong communication with management and clearly explain underwriting decisions while ensuring competitiveness and regulatory compliance.

The role requires collaboration on refining underwriting guidelines and participating in audits, with a mix of in-office and remote work as part of our hybrid approach.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in math, science or business.
  • Holds an industry designation or is working towards its completion (e.g., FALU).
  • 5+ years practical underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform underwriting and risk assessment for multiple lines of business.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with management.
  • Explain underwriting decisions clearly and thoroughly.
  • Ensure competitiveness with peers while complying with protocols and standards.
  • Contribute to underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and service standards; participate in internal and external audits.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $102,532 – $125,317per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks.The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

Job Description

About the role:

  • Perform underwriting and risk assessment for multiple lines of business
  • Maintain a high level of communication, contact and support with management
  • Accountable for thorough communication and/or explanation of all underwriting decisions
  • Ensure PartnerRe's competitiveness with peers in industry, while ensuring compliance with established protocols and control standards
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement and development of underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Ensure departmental compliance with established quality and service level agreements
  • Participation on internal land external audits as required
Qualifications
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Post‑secondary education, preferably in math, science or business
  • Holds an industry designation or is working towards its completion (for example FALU)
  • 5+ years practical experience working in progressive underwriting roles
