Job summary

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Labour Relations Officer for a 6-month term. The role provides advice, representation, and support on a wide range of labour relations matters, including grievances and settlements.

Under the Labour Relations Directorate, you will train stewards, manage case records, and participate in national committees while advising members in both official languages. The position is hybrid with desk sharing.

Qualifications

• University degree in labour relations or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of progressive and related experience in labour relations.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluency in both official languages (French and English) is required.

Responsibilities

• Represent and advise the Institute and members in accordance with federal and provincial laws, collective agreements, policies and guidelines.
• Handle grievances, mediations, and complaints including Phoenix-related issues.
• Develop Institute positions and participate in labour-management committees and negotiations.
• Provide guidance to stewards and members; train and coach stewards as needed.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to knowledge sharing through reports and articles.
