Job summary

Altis Technology is looking for an HR Advisor, Labour Relations in Ottawa (Hybrid) to provide strategic guidance on collective agreements, grievances, policy development, and workplace legislation.

You will work closely with HR and Labour Relations teams, handling investigations, legal research, and dispute resolution while supporting senior leaders and organizational objectives in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of progressive labour relations experience in a unionized environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing the full grievance lifecycle and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation, employment equity, human rights, accommodation, and ADR practices.
  • Experience conducting legal research and providing practical recommendations to leaders.

  • Provide strategic labour relations guidance to leaders on collective agreement interpretation, employee relations matters, and workplace legislation.
  • Manage the full grievance process, including investigations, legal research, evidence gathering, hearings, and drafting responses.
  • Support collective bargaining initiatives, policy development, and labour relations strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Interpret federal, provincial, and territorial employment legislation, arbitration decisions, and case law to provide practical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with HR partners on staffing, accommodation, attendance management, organizational design, and other HR initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and training materials while building positive labour-management relationships.

Skills and Qualifications
  • 4+ years of progressive labour relations experience in a unionized environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full grievance lifecycle and interpreting collective agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation, employment equity, human rights, accommodation, and alternative dispute resolution practices.
  • Experience conducting legal research, analyzing complex workplace issues, and providing practical recommendations to leaders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience representing an employer before arbitration boards, labour boards, tribunals, or other dispute resolution forums is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel as required.
