Job summary

Sila, a next-generation battery materials company, is hiring a Battery Technician to prepare and characterize mixtures, assemble prototype batteries, and test them in heated chambers.

You will work with engineers and scientists, maintain safety procedures, record data, and participate in a 12-hour shift rotation to support 12 hr/7 day operations. This role requires teamwork and precise execution in an R&D setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to work carefully and safely with materials and equipment.
• Team-oriented with ability to solve problems independently.
• History of completing tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment and computer operation.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shift rotations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and characterize chemical mixtures and materials for lithium-ion batteries.
• Assemble lithium-ion batteries and test them on battery cyclers with heated chambers.
• Fabricate mechanical fixtures, undertake tool preventative maintenance, and perform cable management.
• Follow standard operating procedures while seeking continuous process improvements.
• Record data in an online database and maintain inventory.
• Collaborate with Technicians, Research Associates, Engineers, and Scientists.
• Communicate results to troubleshoot, correct, and prevent issues.
• Work a 12-hour shift rotation to support 12 hr/7 day operations and overtime if needed.
