Job summary

LER TechForce is seeking a Battery Pack Test Engineer to join our client site in Windsor, ON. You will support testing and validation of advanced EV battery packs in a state-of-the-art lab, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality and timely reporting.

The role requires a strong background in electrical/mechanical engineering, 3+ years in lab testing, and hands-on use of battery test equipment. Occasional overtime and off-shift coverage may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • 3+ years of lab or engineering experience.
  • Experience configuring, executing, and monitoring engineering tests.
  • Hands-on lab equipment experience.
  • Experience collecting and reporting test data.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing

As a Battery Pack Test Engineer, you will support the development and validation of advanced electric vehicle battery packs in a state-of-the-art battery testing laboratory. Following completion of all required laboratory safety and equipment training, you will execute battery pack development and validation testing while ensuring the highest quality data is collected efficiently and safely.

Working closely with laboratory technicians and cross-functional engineering teams, you will support all phases of battery testing—from test preparation and setup through execution, reporting, diagnostics, and post-test battery handling. Your work will directly support the successful development of future electric vehicle programs.

Responsibilities
  • Execute battery pack development and validation testing according to established test procedures.
  • Operate battery pack test system hardware and software.
  • Execute automated test scripts and generate detailed test reports using standard reporting templates.
  • Create, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Perform daily laboratory testing while maintaining strict adherence to all battery lab safety protocols.
  • Collect, analyze, visualize, and document test data with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Communicate test status and progress with engineering teams and test requestors.
  • Deliver timely interim and final test reports.Troubleshoot testing issues and support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Support EV battery pack diagnostics, teardown activities, and issue resolution when required.
  • Collaborate with scheduling teams to maximize laboratory equipment utilization.Maintain all required laboratory certifications and training.
  • Escalate technical or safety concerns as appropriate.
  • Drive and operate test vehicles as required in support of battery validation and development activities.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory or engineering experience.
  • Experience configuring, executing, and monitoring engineering tests using established procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting engineering test data.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate test vehicles.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with AVL PUMA or similar battery testing systems.
  • Experience using Vector CANalyzer or other CAN communication tools.
  • Familiarity with ETAS INCA or similar calibration and analysis software.
  • Experience with EV battery pack diagnostics, teardown, and root cause analysis.
  • Programming or data analysis experience using MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Experience executing DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) validation testing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 and/or ISO 9001 laboratory quality standards.
Work Schedule
  • Primary schedule is first shift.
  • Employees will be required to support rotating off-shift assignments approximately 3–4 times per year, with each rotation lasting approximately two weeks, based on testing and program requirements.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime and adjusted schedules is expected to support critical testing activities and project milestones.
