Job summary

YMCA Calgary is seeking a part-time Basketball Referee to support youth leagues. The role focuses on officiating games, applying the rules, and ensuring fair play, safety, and smooth game flow across Calgary venues.

You will work Saturdays and occasional Sundays, with start dates immediate. Competitive hourly pay, inclusive YMCA membership and ongoing training opportunities accompany this position.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of basketball.
• Prior playing, refereeing and/or coaching experience.
• First aid and CPR certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

• Provide basketball refereeing for YMCA leagues (ages 9–14).
• Teach and enforce basketball game rules.
• Adjust rules based on age/skill and time in the season.
• Ensure enjoyment, flow and equal participation.
• Organize games to start and end on time; communicate with coaches.
• Be available for tournaments three times a year.
• Assist the Sport Supervisor as required.
