Job summary

Space Ops is seeking a Barista to prepare high-quality beverages and light refreshments while welcoming employees and guests. You will oversee daily café operations, maintain cleanliness and food safety, and support the workplace snack program through procurement of café products and hospitality supplies.

The role focuses on beverage preparation, inventory management, supplier coordination, and delivering an engaging employee experience with a collaborative Operations team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in café operations, hospitality or food service.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and inventory practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and hospitality skills.
  • Reliable, organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare coffee, espresso, tea and specialty beverages.

Description

The Barista is responsible for preparing high-quality beverages and light refreshments while fostering a welcoming and engaging experience for employees, visitors, and guests at Space Ops. This role oversees the daily operations of the organization'scafé by maintaining cleanliness, ensuring food safety standards are met, and keeping thecafé well-stocked and operational. In addition to café operations, this position supports Space Ops' workplace snack and beverage program through the procurement and coordination of café products, office snacks, beverages, and hospitality supplies, playing a key role in enhancing the overall employee experience.

What You'll Be Doing

Beverage & Food Preparation

  • Preparing coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages.
  • Preparing light food items and refreshments as required.
  • Maintaining consistent quality and presentation standards for food and beverage offerings, ensuring products remain well-stocked, and adhering to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.

You will support the daily operation of the organizations café by:

  • Opening and closing the café according to established procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment.
  • Monitoring inventory levels, managing inventory counts, and restocking supplies and ingredients to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
  • Managing relationships with approved suppliers and coordinating product deliveries.
  • Maintaining café equipment and reporting maintenance issues.

Inventory & Budget Management

You will support Space Ops' workplace snack and beverage program by:

  • Managing inventory for caféproducts, office snacks, beverages, and workplace hospitality supplies, including regular inventory counts, accurate recordkeeping, ordering, receiving, and organizing supplies.
  • Managing food, beverage, and supply budgets.

Employee & Guest Experience

You will help create a positive workplace experience by:

  • Providing friendly and professional service to employees and visitors.
  • Preparing and serving beverages and refreshments for meetings, events, executive requests, and other internal functions as required.
  • Responding to requests promptly while maintaining a high level of service.

You will work closely with the Operations team to:

  • Support office operations and workplace initiatives.
  • Assist with meeting room hospitality and event preparation.
  • Support additional workplace services as required.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in café operations, hospitality, or food service environment is required. Experience preparing coffee and specialty beverages is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and inventory management practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service, and hospitality skills.
  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented individual who has an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a professional, welcoming experience for employees, guests, and visitors.
  • $45,000 - $50,000Annual Compensation.
