Job summary

Space Ops is seeking a Manager, Software Development to lead AI-augmented engineering, shaping architecture, standards, and practices for scalable systems. This hands-on technical leadership role drives design, reviews, and governance across teams, partnering with Product, Design, Data, and Leadership to deliver secure, maintainable software.

You will mentor engineers, champion quality and security, and guide AI-enabled workflows to accelerate delivery while balancing speed and long-term health

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives, architecture decisions, and engineering teams.
• Strong expertise building and scaling modern web applications and distributed systems.
• Deep experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, React, and Next.js.
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, system design, and engineering best practices.
• Hands on experience with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps workflows.
• Expertise in OOP, SOLID principles, Design Patterns, and Clean Architecture.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to significantly improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Strong prompt engineering skills and experience guiding AI-generated code.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who has moved beyond traditional software development and embraces the power of AI-augmented engineering.

In this role, you will serve as both a technical authority and force multiplier, driving architecture decisions, establishing engineering best practices, mentoring developers, and helping shape how AI transforms software delivery across the organization. This is not a traditional development role. You will lead the design and delivery of mission-critical applications while establishing the standards, frameworks, and AI-driven workflows that enable engineering teams to operate at scale. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Leadership teams to transform ambitious ideas into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
