Job summary

Oak View Group is hiring a Banquet Server to deliver professional, high-quality food and beverage service during events. You will set up spaces, liaise with kitchen and event staff, and maintain cleanliness and organization across service areas.

The role requires strong guest service, flexibility to work nights and weekends, and the ability to lift heavy objects. The position is part-time with a CAD 20.00 hourly rate in Calgary.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects; capable of carrying at least 8 entrees per tray.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
  • Strong arithmetic skills and attention to detail.
  • Punctual with consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to respond gracefully to simple complaints or inquiries from guests.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands banquet event orders.
  • Provides fine-dining level food and beverage service to guests for all events, consistent with standards of service.
  • Maintains friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring needs are anticipated and met.
  • Sets up and maintains food and beverage stations in various locations.
  • Maintains inventory for food and beverage stations.
  • Keeps event areas and front-of-house staging areas tidy and organized.
  • Assists in setup and cleanup of service items and works independently during slower times.
  • Contributes to a safe and clean work environment.
  • Engages with guests with a high level of social interaction and professionalism.
  • Ensures work is accurate and completed to standard.

Position Summary

A Banquet Server plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by providing professional and efficient food and beverage service during events. Their primary function is to ensure that all guests feel welcomed and attended to, following event specifications and service standards. From the setup of banquet spaces to the seamless execution of meal service, they maintain an acute focus on detail and hospitality. Banquet Servers work collaboratively with kitchen and event staff to ensure the timely delivery of courses, adapt to guest needs in real-time, and uphold the ambiance and quality of the event. Beyond serving, Servers contribute to the overall success of events by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the service. They reset spaces for subsequent events and ensure that all equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately. Whether it's a formal gala, a corporate event, or a wedding reception, this applies. Banquet Servers are integral in creating a positive impression of the venue and event host, embodying professionalism, efficiency, and a guest-focused attitude.

This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00 CAD

Spruce Meadows is South Calgary's leading Sports and Entertainment District, located on the border of Southwest Calgary. Regarded as one of the top show jumping venues on the planet, a stunning 500-acre property also hosts a wide range of events, including tournaments, concerts, festivals, and world-famous markets.

Responsibilities
  • Reads and understands banquet event orders.
  • Provides fine-dining-level food and beverage service to guests for all events, consistent with standards of service.
  • Initiates and maintains friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring that all needs are anticipated and met.
  • Setup and maintain both food and beverage stations in various locations throughout the building consistent with standards of service.
  • Maintain an inventory for both food and beverage stations.
  • Maintain all event areas and front-of-house staging areas in a tidy and organized manner.
  • Participate in both the setup and cleanup of food and beverage service items.
  • Works independently during slower times.
  • Perform safe work by helping to create a safe and clean work environment.
  • Has a high level of social contact and deals often with patrons.
  • Ensures that work is accurate and complete.
  • Maintains a customer-focused, positive, and professional attitude.
