Job summary

Oak View Group seeks a Banquet Supervisor for Spruce Meadows in Calgary. This part-time role supervises catering events, coordinates staff, and ensures exceptional guest service throughout the event process. The position pays an hourly CAD 24.00 rate.

You will collaborate with the Executive Chef and event coordinators to ensure proper setup, inventory, and timely execution, while maintaining safety and quality standards. ProServe is required; food handling certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ supervisory experience in a food & beverage environment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • ProServe qualification is required.
  • Food handling certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews assigned event details and menus prior to the scheduled event.
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings with staff to ensure appearance and hygiene standards, assign stations and partners, and review banquet event orders.
  • Communicates with the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met.
  • Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events.
  • Checks room setup prior to the event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
  • Ensures proper handling of all equipment and their proper storage after use.
  • Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service; ensures food is served at the right temperature and upsell opportunities are met.
  • Regularly reviews the banquet schedule for changes and events calendar.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Position Summary

The Banquet Supervisor coordinates and oversees all catering events to ensure proper execution and ensure guest satisfaction. The Banquet Supervisor will provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire event process to ensure the highest standard of customer satisfaction. To be successful in this role, candidates must build strong relationships, continually strive to provide a seamless experience, and be flexible with our clients' and their guests' needs by providing quality services and products through detailed and accurate communication. Spruce Meadows team members must share in our values of being adaptable to event needs, being aware of guest requirements, showing strong character, and being team-centric.

This role pays an hourly rate of $24.00 CAD.

About The Venue

Spruce Meadows is South Calgary's leading Sports and Entertainment District, located on the border of Southwest Calgary. Regarded as one of the top show jumping venues on the planet, a stunning 500-acre property also hosts a wide range of events, including tournaments, concerts, festivals, and world-famous markets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
  • Checks room setup prior to the event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
  • Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e., china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
  • Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that food is served at an appropriate temperature, food is placed properly on the table, sufficient food is available, and upsell opportunities are met.
  • Regularly reviews the banquet schedule for changes, the calendar of events, and special events.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a supervisory capacity in a food & beverage environment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including co-workers, customers, and management, which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Food handling certificate is preferred.
  • ProServe qualification is required.
