Job summary

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver invites applications for a Banquet Bartender to craft quality beverages for weddings, galas, conferences and events. You will set up, stock, and operate banquet bars, delivering professional service that aligns with our high standards.

You will ensure responsible beverage service, verify ages, and maintain precise event records while collaborating with banquet and culinary teams in a historic 1939 Vancouver landmark.

Qualifications

  • Warm, professional, guest-focused personality with hospitality mindset.
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent and Serving It Right certification.
  • Knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, cocktails; strong beverage service sense.
  • Experience in banquets, restaurants, hotels, or high-volume venues is preferred.
  • Luxury hotel or large events experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, friendly, engaging service per Fairmont standards.
  • Set up, stock, operate, and dismantle banquet bars for events.
  • Prepare and serve beverages accurately using approved recipes.
  • Verify event requirements; ensure bars are stocked and event-ready.
  • Provide responsible beverage service and check drinking ages.
  • Monitor guest consumption and escalate when needed.
  • Maintain cash, charge, inventory, and beverage records.
  • Keep bars clean, stocked, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with banquet, culinary, stewarding, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in trainings and service excellence initiatives.
  • Follow hotel policies and brand standards; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

What You Will Be Doing
  • Provide professional, friendly, engaging, and personalized service in accordance with Fairmont service standards
  • Prepare, stock, operate, and dismantle banquet bars for meetings, weddings, receptions, and special events
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately using approved recipes, measures, and presentation standards
  • Review event requirements to ensure bars are fully stocked and event-ready
  • Verify legal drinking age and provide responsible beverage service in accordance with Serving It Right and hotel policies
  • Monitor guest consumption and respond appropriately to signs of intoxication, escalating concerns when required
  • Maintain accurate cash, charge, inventory, and beverage consumption records throughout each event
  • Keep bar stations clean, organized, fully stocked, and compliant with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with banquet, culinary, stewarding, and leadership teams to deliver seamless event execution
  • Participate in departmental briefings, training sessions, and service excellence initiatives
  • Follow all hotel policies, health and safety procedures, and brand standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful banquet operations
Qualifications
What We Are Looking for
  • A warm, professional, and guest-focused personality with a passion for hospitality
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Serving It Right certification (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, cocktails, and responsible beverage service
  • Previous bartending experience in banquets, restaurants, hotels, or high-volume venues is preferred
  • Luxury hotel or large-scale event experience is considered an asset
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification is an asset
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, dependable, and committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; additional language skills are an asset
  • Flexible to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight events as operationally required
Physical Demands of This Role
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Perform frequent repetitive hand and arm movements while preparing beverages
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull beverage supplies, kegs, and bar equipment
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (23 kg)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while working in a fast-paced setting
