Job Description
Reporting to the Banquet Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
- Maintain complete knowledge of the daily scheduled group functions, and requirements
- Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
- Serve all food and beverage items for assigned banquet meetings
- Assist in the set up and take down of meeting and function rooms according to requirements in accordance with departmental standards
- Have full knowledge of beverage lists
- Have full knowledge of all menu items being served
- Follow outlet policies, procedures and service standards
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
Qualifications
- Previous service experience an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- BC Serving It Right Certificate required prior to commencing employment
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts (including 5:00 am start times, 4:00 am closing times, Christmas Day and New Years' Eve) and provide availability to work a minimum of two 8‑hour shifts per week of the required minimum 24 hours weekly availability. For one of these shifts, you must be available until 2:30 am on a weekday (Sunday‑Thursday) and the other shift you must be available to work until 4:00 am on the weekend (Friday or Saturday)
- Physical aspects of the position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Constant lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
