Otter Co-op in Langley, BC is hiring a Full-Time Bakery Associate for our Retail Centre. Reporting to the Bakery Manager, you will bake, decorate, label, and stock products while delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate has bakery experience, strong communication skills, and a willingness to work early mornings, with open availability across 7 days. This role is based at the Langley Retail Centre with potential travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous baking and retail/customer service experience preferred.
• Food safety certification is an asset.
• Excellent communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Bake and prep products by measuring ingredients and using mixers and other equipment.
• Decorate and display finished products; ensure quality finish and labeling.
• Maintain storage, labeling and rotation of food products.
• Provide exceptional customer service and handle orders accurately.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Bakery Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

• Measuring and combining ingredients and safely using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
• Decorating and displaying finished products and features
• Add a quality finish to baked items and packed products
• Maintain proper storage, labelling and rotation of food products
• Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders, and providing exceptional customer service
• Keeping records relating to inventory, and production levels
• Taking client information and ensuring that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
• Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift
• Follow opening and closing procedures
• Contribute to the team in living the corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence
• Perform other duties as assigned

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and:

• Previous Baking experience preferred
• Previous Retail / Customer Service an asset
• Previous experience handling food along with a food safe certification is an asset
• Must have excellent communication skills, be able to work efficiently in a team setting as well as independently in a fast-paced environment
• Must have a strong work ethic
• This is a physical job requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift, push, pull up to 50pounds on occasion
• Must be committed to a SAFE working environment
• The ideal candidate will have open availability 7 days a week to work a variety of shifts, that include early mornings, afternoons and late evenings.
• This position is based at the Retail Centre, though it may require on some occasions to travel and work at other locations as business needs arise
