Midland Transport is seeking a Class AZ Night Shift Yard Shunt Driver for our Ottawa, ON site. You will safely move trailers in the terminal yard, position them at doors, and ensure regulatory compliance while engaging with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Valid Class AZ driver's license.
• Minimum of 2 years of safe tractor-trailer driving experience; shunting experience is a plus.
• Clean driving abstract and clean criminal record check.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment and follow safety procedures.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs. using appropriate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely move, position, and manage trailers within the terminal yard and at dock doors.
• Conduct yard checks, inspections, and monitor/refuel refrigerated units as required.
• Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections per regulatory requirements.
• Load, unload, and move freight using pallet jacks as needed.
• Maintain equipment and comply with safety regulations, traffic laws and company policies.
• Communicate with Supervisors and Operations staff and report incidents or safety concerns.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Midland Transport is currently seeking a Class AZ Night Shift Yard Shunt Driver to join our team at our Ottawa, ON. We are looking for a dependable and safety-focused professional with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and commitment to providing a Superior Quality service.

SCHEDULE

• Monday to Friday: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

POSITION OVERVIEW

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers throughout the terminal yard, including positioning trailers at dock doors and designated yard locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely and efficiently move, position, and manage trailers within the terminal yard and at assigned dock doors.
• Conduct yard checks, equipment inspections, and monitor/refuel refrigerated units as required.
• Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Load, unload, and move freight using electric or manual pallet jacks as needed.
• Maintain company equipment and comply with all safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with Supervisors and Operations staff and promptly report any incidents, injuries, damage, or safety concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS
