Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an AZ licensed driver to operate straight trucks and tractor-trailers in the Soil Division. You will cover routes north of Sault Ste.

Marie, including winter operations to mine sites, and handle cross-border runs into Michigan. Safety, reliability, and efficient delivery are essential to success. The role requires 5+ years of experience, the ability to work weekends/nights, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• AZ license with clean abstract and CVOR.
• Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience.
• Experience with dump trucks, walking floors, heavy/oversized loads, flat decks and float transportation.
• Ability to work weekends or nights when required.
• Commitment to safety in a safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight truck and tractor-trailer combos including Roll-Off to support Soil Division.
• Complete routes north of Sault Ste. Marie; winter operations to mine sites.
• Complete daily AZ cross-border runs to Michigan as required.
• Perform safety inspections and logbook entries.
• Report hazards/incidents and coordinate with Route Supervisors.
• Ensure contractual and traffic-law compliance; support team with safe routing.
• Perform other duties including dump truck and walking floor operations.

Job Summary:

Marie, including winter driving to mine sites, as well as managing cross-border runs, ensuring we continue to serve our customers safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Licensing: Valid AZ driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience.
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated experience with dump trucks, walking floors, heavy/over-sized loads, flat decks, and float transportation.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to daily changes in project assignments and work weekends or nights when required.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit to succeed in the position.

Responsibilities:

• Safe Fleet Operation: Operate various straight truck and tractor-trailer combinations, including Roll-Off truck and pup combinations, to support the Soil Division.
• Route Execution: Complete routes North of Sault Ste. Marie, including winter operations on Highway 17 N to service the Westdome Gold Mine location on Paint Lake Rd.
• Cross-Border Travel: Complete daily AZ runs to Michigan (Traverse City and Dafter, MI) as required.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough electronic driving logbook entries and daily inspections of assigned assets.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Perform end-of-day driver check-ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork; promptly report any route hazards or safety incidents to Route Supervisors.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure service is completed in strict accordance with contract obligations, traffic laws, and GFL’s “Safe For Life” practices.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors to ensure routes are completed in a timely and safe manner.
• Additional Duties: Perform other operational duties, including dump truck and walking floor operations, as assigned by leadership.
