Job summary

Thompson's Iron & Metal in Gravenhurst, ON is seeking a reliable AZ driver for local scrap haulage. You’ll run regional trips with most returns home each night, no living out of a truck.

Expect year-round, Monday–Friday work with optional weekend OT in peak season. Drives include tin scow trailer, roll-off, and flatbed tow truck for scrap jobs, with competitive pay and benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• Heavy haul experience with equipment floats, scrap, or aggregate.
• Comfortable pre-tripping, chaining, tarping, and running a tin scow.
• AZ license required with clean abstract.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple vehicle types: 5-axle tin scow trailer, roll-off truck, equipment float, and flatbed tow truck for scrap runs.
• Maintain safety, vehicle cleanliness, and professional customer interactions.
• Be flexible to move between units as the day requires.

AZ Driver — Local Scrap Haulage (Home Every Night)

Thompson's Iron & Metal — Gravenhurst, ON $28–$32/hr based on experience | Full-time, year-round | 45–50 hrs/week typical

The Job

We're a family-owned scrap yard just off of Highway 11 in Gravenhurst, and we need a reliable AZ driver to run our scrap haulage full-time.You're home every night.Most runs are one-day mill trips with regional pickups across Muskoka, Parry Sound, and cottage country — no living out of a truck.

Year-round steady work. Monday to Friday with optional weekend OT in peak season. We're growing fast and the driver who joins us now is the driver we build around.

What You'll Drive

• 5-axle tin scow trailerfor scrap runs to mill
• Roll-off truckfor bin swaps at industrial and demo accounts
• Equipment floatfor moving our excavators, shears, and graders
• Flatbed tow truckfor scrap vehicle pickups

What You'll Make

• $28–$32/hrstarting range, based on verified experience
• Time-and-a-half over 44 hrs

What We Need From You

• Valid AZ, clean abstract, clean CVOR
• Heavy haul experience (equipment floats, scrap, aggregate, or similar)
• Comfortable pre-tripping, chaining, tarping, and running a tin scow
• Straight shooter who shows up, keeps the truck clean, and treats customers professionally
• Willing to move between units (scow, roll-off, float, flatbed tow) as the day requires
