Job summary

The Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) is seeking Awake Night Staff to provide safe, home-like overnight support to residents in Vancouver and Richmond. This casual/on-call role requires a minimum two shifts per week and every other weekend, with a starting ASAP date.

Wage ranges from $24.54 to $27.19 per hour, plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits, under the current collective agreement. Applicants must have a Health Care diploma, 1–2 years' experience with developmental disabilities, and

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in an approved Health Care Training Program.
• 1–2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Experience with or training in adaptive communication, positive behaviour support, and community care is an asset.
• Ability to implement complex behaviour programs.
• Crisis intervention training and proactive training skills.
• Must be able to perform lifts and transfers of 40 lbs.
• Experience in Geriatric care is preferred.
• Formal training in the area of counselling and positive behavior support is preferred.
• Criminal Record Clearance, Medical Clearance, TB Test Clearance, and First Aid/CPR.
• Non‑violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• This position requires union membership.

• Overnight direct support to residents in a safe, home-like setting.
• Assist with lifts and transfers as needed.
• Maintain communication with family and professionals regarding residents’ well-being.

Term/Status: Casual/On‑Call (Overnight Shifts)

Schedule/Hours: Minimum availability of 2 shifts per week and every other weekend, both Saturday & Sunday.

Hourly Wage: $24.54 - $27.19 + 10.6% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates, implementation of new collective agreement is in process, and new wage rate $26.04 to $28.85 will be implemented once funding is received)
